Dare to go on a different holiday... Discover the Vélodyssée cycling route.

La Vélodyssée is a 1,256 km route that criss-crosses France from Brittany (Roscoff) to the Basque Country (Hendaye), following the Atlantic coastline through 10 departments and 4 regions. With its safe, marked trails, this route is part of the French section of the EuroVelo route 1 (Norway-Portugal). It is the longest developed cycling route in France.

For the Nouvelle Aquitaine region, La Vélodyssée starts from Verdon-sur-Mer, opposite the Cordouan lighthouse, follows the Médoc coastlines and seaside resorts, then curves round the oyster villages of Arcachon bay.

It resumes its straight path to Biscarrosse, crosses Parentis en Born and Gastes to head for south Landes up to Bayonne, entrance to the Basque Country, before reaching Hendaye at the Spanish border. More than 80% of the routes are safe and car-free, and the same signage will keep you on course.

For a few hours or a week, each cyclist can go at their own pace, discover the natural and heritage sites as they wish, enjoy the landscapes and regional products… and it is good exercise for your legs!
